Pasta with Homemade Pasta Sauce

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Tonight I became a true Italian chef!

  • 1x tin cherry tomatoes
  • 2x "normal" tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons crushed garlic
  • dried Italian Herbs
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Red wine
  • Pepper
  • Pasta
  • Olive oil

Start some water boiling. In a saucepan fry the onion (I used rice bran oil for this part, Olive oil is at the end), then when it’s been cooking for a few minutes add the garlic. Cook that for a minute then add the can of cherry tomatoes and the normal tomatoes. By now the water should be boiling so put the pasta in. In about 5 minutes add a dash of red wine, a huge sprinkling of Italian herbs, some pepper and the brown sugar. In another 5 minutes check the pasta and taste the sauce. Add more herbs/pepper/sugar to taste. Drain pasta, put sauce on top, then put some extra virgin olive oil on top for that final touch. Belissimo!

You won’t want to use bottled/canned pasta sauce again!

Danny’s Real Wholemeal Garlic Pita Bread (toasted to perfection), streaky bacon (fried to perfection), 2 free range eggs (also fried to perfection), Kato Hollandaise sauce, and a fried tomato. Garnished with freshly ground black pepper. Followed by a side of steamed/boiled broccoli.

I give it 5/5 stars.

Bad Pizza

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Tonight I ordered a pizza online from Dominos Pizza. I have done this numerous times before with no problem at all.

I went crazy tonight and ordered the following pizza:

  • 1/2 and 1/2 Meatosaurus and Fire Eater
  • Tripple Cheese Crust
  • Chicken Kickers

This cost just over $20.

Tonight the pizza took over an hour to arrive, and was lukewarm at best. I sent Dominos an email advising them of this travesty. I expect a refund at the very least.

Breville Drip Filter Coffee Maker

Breville Drip Filter Coffee Maker BCM120

Possibly the best Drip Filter coffee maker ever conceived, the Breville Drip Filter Coffee Maker BCM120 is a stylish, no-nonsense coffee brewing MACHINE! It also features a mesh filter which is easily taken out and cleaned, meaning you don’t have to waste thousands of dollars a year buying paper filters. Takes less than 5 minutes to brew 2 cups of coffee (2 cups in real life = 3 cups on the machine’s gauge – much the same as my "3 cup coffee plunger", which manages a cup and a half IRL (in real life.) )
